Windows 10 Creator: Upgrade Can Be Done Even On Metered Connections By Joseph Patrick | Mar 21, 2017 03:41 AM EDT Most Windows users are eager to see what the Windows 10 Creator update will bring. But before that, there is the matter of getting hold of it. There is no word yet on how big or small the update would be though recent reports suggesting that it would be available even on metered connections could be an indication. Getting hold of the Windows 10 Creator update even on metered connections was reported by Supersite Windows. This could indicate that critical updates which are normally fragmented can be downloaded without worries. Regardless, it still comes a bit broad. The time it would take to download these updates was not mentioned so getting smaller patches still needs further elaboration. Depending on how frequent Windows 10 users their devices, it may come to a point that they cease usability to apply the updates. With no mention of time, it could also hint at added costs on their end. Hence, the best route is to still download them via stable WiFi connections. This way, data connections can be preserved for better use, especially when they are on the go. Speaking of the Windows 10 Creator update, the metered connection route could also address some update concerns raised by Windows 10 Home users. This has something to do with the forced updates, something they are able to limit as of to date. All that could change once the Windows 10 Creator update rolls out in April. Much of this was plucked out from the recent Windows Insider Preview Build 15058 as reported by PC World. All one has to do is mark their WiFi connection as metered via the Settings>Update and Security> Windows. While this could hold true for larger fragments, important updates meant to keep Windows running smoothly will still download. It may all seem like a partial solution but at least it addresses concerns when it comes to the usage time of devices or PCs.
