Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Latest Update: Hybrid Featuring AMD Ryzen & Windows 10 Creators Releasing This Spring By Harsh Soni h_soniji@rediffmail.com | Mar 20, 2017 05:21 AM EDT Latest reports and rumors about the highly anticipated Microsoft Surface Pro 5 claims that device is expected to launch this spring with AMD's latest Ryzen processors and the latest Windows 10 Creators Update. There are also some rumors which say that there will be two variants of the Surface Pro 5- one with the AMD CPU and another with Intel's Kaby Lake. Surface Pro patrons were expecting Surface Pro 5's debut at the recently held Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. But as it was a no-show at the event, there are those who are now under the impression that the 2-in-1 hybrid device might debut within the same month as the Windows 10 Creators Update, which scheduled for the release on April 11. Initial rumors have indicated that the Surface Pro 5 will boast the Intel's latest 7th-generation Kaby Lake processors. However, there is a new speculation which claims that the Surface Pro 5 will be powered by AMD Ryzen CPUs instead, as per Inquisitr. The rumor emerged after a similar device like Surface Pro was used in the teaser for the film "Alien: Covenant". The teaser shows a scientist using what looks like a Microsoft Surface Pro and later embedding a chip with the AMD logo on the head of Walter, played by Michael Fassbender. The shift from Intel to AMD wouldn't be a surprise as the AMD Ryzen has been getting praises since its release. Another rumor has also been surfaced earlier which says that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 might be released in two variants, one with AMD and other with Intel chips. This rumor came about after a photo of a wall in Microsoft's building 88 was leaked, which has indicated that there are more than one Surface Pro devices in the offing. According to PC Advisor, the Surface Pro 5 may launch this spring. The reason for this is the Surface Pro series is ripe for an upgrade. Microsoft did not debut the Surface Pro 5 device at last year's October Windows event and last month's MWC 2017 too so, it has been more than a year since the Surface Pro 4 was released so it is highly plausible that a new one is coming. Another speculation is some retailers have slashed the price of the Surface Pro 4 by $100 back in January. A price drop for a current flagship is a common indication that a new one is coming soon. Lastly, a leak from China says Pegatron, the maker of the Surface Studio, has already received a contract to manufacture the Surface Pro 5. This all rumors clearly indicate that the much-awaited Surface Pro 5 is not too far from now. The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is also expected to feature a 4K display, a new wireless charging Stylus, and USB Type-C.
