OnePlus 5 vs Google Pixel 2: Battle of the Beasts

While the following two smartphones in question, aren't even actual devices yet, the rumor mills and the interweb in general, are just too excited to predict the future, which for some time hasn't seen any change yet. On one hand, corporate supergiants Google are ready to maintain their stronghold in Android device markets worldwide. On the other side, there's the Shenzhen-based OnePlus firm waiting to showcase their next big thing for OnePlus loyalists.

It's fairly obvious that OnePlus is expected to introduce the OnePlus 4 to the markets anytime soon. That said, taking a look at their history of releases throughout the last two to three years, the OnePlus 5 too might be recorded in the history books part of 2017 itself.

As reported earlier, a dedicated Google daily news journal 9to5Google highlighted certain details that they feel will change in the upcoming Pixel device from the Internet Search Giant, sometime in October/November this year. The 3.5mm audio jack, courageously removed by their primary rivals Apple, will also be ditched by Google as a part of a similar courageous move.

The details from the site read that Google was already in the process of testing numerous functional prototypes, possibly with different processor chips too, before the final reveal. It seems like Intel's move to shift part of their concentration to the mobile processor environment might be a thing for Google to look out.

Meanwhile, OnePlus for their upcoming flagship smartphone might have planned something differently than what has been speculated so far. According to various sources, there are ongoing rumors that the company plans to skip the manufacturing of OnePlus 4 and instead, come out with the OnePlus 5 instead per reports from Auto World News.

Such a move is actually sane for both the users and the manufacturer since there's no existing high-end processing chip that OnePlus hasn't made use of, now that the Snapdragon 835 will be exclusive to Samsung for some time. With the introduction of OnePlus 3T, there's no real reason for OnePlus to come out with OnePlus 4 as per a Chinese belief that the number 4 is unlucky.
