Moto G5 and G5 Plus Officially Launched in India, To Be Released In More Markets Very Soon By Ajay Kadkol | Mar 20, 2017 02:50 AM EDT Motorola or simply Moto (now owned by its Chinese parent firm Lenovo), has introduced a successor to the 'Moto G' series line-up of mid-range budget smartphones, at a launch event in one of their primary markets, India. Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are the two new faces from Moto part of the Moto G series of smartphones that have become popular gradually throughout the world. The launch event on Wednesday also revealed its prices and specifications for both the devices. While Moto is primarily concentrating on the Indian customers to maintain its stronghold in selling Moto G smartphones, details from Livemint also reveal that Moto plans to announce the smartphones in various markets in the coming weeks. Statistically, Moto only controls a share of 8.9% of smartphones pushed to the Indian markets which by its popularity is still a bit low compared to others. The Moto G5 Plus, supposedly the better variant among the two comes with a 5.2-inch display powered by a 2gHz Snapdragon octa-core processor along with 4GB of memory. The phone offers users to increase the storage up to 128GB with the help of a Micro-SD card. The phone sports two cameras, the one at the rear with a 12MP sensor while the front-facing camera has a 5MP sensor. With the help of a 3,000mAh battery, the Moto G5 Plus is arguably one of the best smartphones that one can buy at a price of Rs. 15000(a rough approximate of US$229).As an Indian tech tabloid Gadgets 360 reports, the phone was listed on the site for pre-orders on Wednesday with color choices of Lunar Grey and Fine Gold among the initially available choices that customers could opt for. On the other side, Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart has begun offering their own customers with a buyback program and pre-order cashback amongst other things. The Moto G5 Plus is expected to take on its rivals Redmi Note 4 from Xiaomi and well its own competitor, the Moto M.
