Jailbreaking Community Update: Hacker Luca Todesco Claimed That He Didn’t Use Jailbreaking Method in Hacking the Nintendo Switch

The nineteen-year-old Italian hacker Luca Todesco has recently reported that he managed to jailbreak the new release Nintendo Switch gaming console. He managed to have an access to the console's system using the same method that he had used in iOS 9 devices; the guy was also recognized for jailbreaking several Apple devices in terms of its iOS operating system.

As noted by Ultimate Tech News, Luca Todesco stated that it's not intentional for hacking the Nintendo Switch; he was just trying a make a proof of concept that he wanted to try out. The method he did allows him to access the console's system and run any arbitrary code on the Nintendo Switch which can allow everyone to change the Nintendo Switch's interface, functionalities, and the whole system itself.

Luca Todesco's exploit explains that he uses the same bug in the browser software on iOS 9 which is now applicable in the Nintendo Switch. His method will make the code he encrypted to be available that consists of stuff that allows the code to be applied to the console via a browser. As for the Nintendo Switch console, it uses a hidden WebKit browser that can be essential whenever the console needs to connect to a Wi-Fi network. The Nintendo Switch's browser isn't always connected to the console main operating system which allows users to send commands to the gaming console that affect its basic functions.

In Luca Todesco's exploit can be found in the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) website which reveals that what he did is just basically the same process that can be found on the WebKit in all Apple iOS 9.3.5 and below. According to Tech Portal, this exploit was officially named CVE - 2016 - 4657 which is very easy to practice with any device that runs with an unprotected version of the WebKit.

Luca Todesco's twitter account, he posted a message using a name of qwertyuiop that what he did isn't totally a jailbreak method. The hack he did doesn't mean that there will be pirated games for the Nintendo Switch console.
