‘Pokemon GO’ Latest News & Update: Niantic Doubles Workforce, Points Out Health & Learning Benefits of Augmented Reality Game

Niantic CEO John Hanke was part of the SXSW 2017 panel, together with other key community members of the mobile gaming community discussing the potential of augmented reality and mobile technologies. “Pokemon GO” was among the topics and Hanke laid out some interesting information about the hit AR game.

“Pokemon GO” has been repeatedly branded as something that entices people to get up and go while keeping them entertained in the process. A bit of learning is included as well with gamers when hunting and managing encounters. That includes efficient use of their arsenal, Poke balls and berries to capture the critters. As most know, this varies since the Pokemon a player comes across may range from manageable to wild, Pokemon GO Hub reported.

For “Pokemon GO” players, all that may be elementary. But Hanke expands the breakthrough of the augmented reality game, something he didn’t expect to be this successful as mentioned on Twitter. On that note, the Niantic CEO also downplayed claims that “Pokemon GO” has died. He assured that millions of people are still hooked to the game, trying to capture the elusive critters daily.

Aside from the benefits “Pokemon GO” has given, he also singles out the game has helped breathe life back into previously overlooked public spaces. While the case varies, the fact that most are enticed to be on the move does support his claim.

Looking ahead, Hanke also took the opportunity to announce new products at their next event as singled out in a Reddit post. As most know, “Pokemon GO” Gen 2 did introduce those 80 new pocket monsters from Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver. Yet to be seen are the “Pokemon GO” trading and player vs. player features. Could these be part of the future add-ons Hanke is referring to?
