Samsung has started rolling out an Android update for the majority of its smartphones last year. Nevertheless, the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge users have been waiting for the update ever since the announcement. Previously, rumors have suggested that the update will be rolled out some time at the end of February, which never happened. Now a new report claims that some devices have started receiving the update.

According to German tech site Giga.de, users in Europe are now starting to see the Nougat update sent out to their phones, starting with a one Galaxy S6 Edge owner in Switzerland and continuing in the comments. This means that mainland Europe and the UK are probably looking at updates sometime soon, with the usual delays for localization and server rollout. The new build number for the S6 edge is G925FXXU5EQBG.

According to the publication, the update weighs in at around 1.35GB, while that might change a bit based on phone model and location. This update was initially said to come by the end of February, but it then got delayed by the Samsung as it wanted to review its quality. GSM Arena notes that it looks like the software passed that review with flying colors since it's now already going out.

However, everyone is expecting the update to make its way to more regions and more carriers soon. Users in Switzerland, Germany, and Italy have reported received the update, according to a report published by Sammobile. Now it looks like the roll-out will be limited to Europe for now.

Samsung has introduced some significant UX changes including new Quick panel and notifications, multi-window support, performance mode, and Samsung Pass, with the Android 7.0 Nougat update. The update also adds Samsung Cloud that will allow users to sync information and data from their native apps to cloud storage.
