Any iPhones and other cellular-capable iPads were built with Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card slots on their sides. SIM card provides all the information in every device to get their network and access any network, access voice date services that are connected to all of your accounts.

There might time that you want to exchange your SIM or remove your SIM card on any Apple devices for any reason. Any Apple devices including iPhone and iPad have an Apple SIM Card remover tool which usually comes included in the box of an Apple cellular device, especially when you buy an unlocked device. Fortunately, even a paper clip can be used as an alternative Apple SIM card remover tool.

If you choose to use a paper clip, you must straighten the long end. But if you are using something else, make sure that it fits perfectly into the SIM ejector slot. All Apple iPhone were equipped with a SIM card tray except the CDMA variant of the iPhone 4. In the original iPhone or iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS, you can find the SIM ejector slot on the top of the device located between the power button and headphone jack. For all iPhone 4 and up to date, you can find the SIM ejector slot on the right side of the device perpendicular to the volume buttons and mute switch.

Apple iPads have also SIM trays including the original iPad where the SIM tray can be found along the left side of the device towards the middle perpendicular to mute switch and volume buttons. As for Apple's iPad 2, 3, and 4 you can find its SIM tray on the left side of the device while in iPad Air, Air2, mine including all generations, you can find it on the right side of the device, according to Support Apple.

In removing SIM card in any Apple cellular device you need to do it gently and carefully. First, insert the small straight end of the paper clip into the pinhole opening in the SIM tray. Next, you need to apply a small amount of pressure until the SIM tray pops out from the device. Remember; don't apply any pressure at an angle that contradicts the direction of the pin hole. Then, hold the SIM tray and pull it out gently. Re-insert any SIM card you want but make sure that you have installed it properly.

Make sure that never force a SIM tray back inside the device where you can break any pins which lead into mantling your iPhone device and unable to connect any cellular network, as noted by I More. Install your cellular SIM card into its tray properly before putting it back into your Apple device.
