Huawei Rolls Out Honor 6X Android Nougat Beta Program in the US; How to Apply By Harsh Soni h_soniji@rediffmail.com | Mar 02, 2017 05:22 AM EST Huawei recently announced Android Nougat beta program for Honor 6X units in the United States. The announcement was made through a tweet by Honor USA, which said that the company is currently looking for Honor 6X users in the country who are interested in testing the beta firmware. Honor has confirmed back at CES that Android Nougat and EMUI 5.0 would be coming to the Honor 6X during Q2 to free the phone of Marshmallow and the horrid EMUI 4.1. Keeping its promise now, the company is holding up its end of the bargain. Honor has announced that they are looking for the beta testers to try out EMUI 5.0 on the Honor 6X in the US via its USA Twitter channel. The tweet reads "Wanna be the first to test out EMUI 5.0 on your #Honor6X? Sign up to be a beta tester now. Email your IMEI to huaweifut@huawei.com now." Users who are interested in being part of the beta testing will have to share their devices IMEI number(s) with the company via mail. EMUI 5.0 brings features like a refreshed interface with optional app drawer, more intuitive access to settings (you no longer need to dive through 50 screens to get to where you want to be). EMUI 5.0 Skin also has the Nougat addition features like multi-window support, split screen etc., according to Android Authority. The final Nougat update for Honor 6X will roll-out in the Q2, of 2017. The US market isn't the first market where Huawei has launched its Honor 6X Nougat beta program; it has already been launched across Asia and Europe towards the second week of February, as per the Gizbot. Recently, Honor said that the 6X Nougat rollout would land in March. It then backtracked, saying this was for 6X review units only, and that the full rollout would arrive in the first half of 2017. Depending on how smooth the beta phase runs, final Nougat will arrive in the Q2 rather than in the last weeks of June.
