Warner Bros. To Offer $300 ‘Middle-Earth: Shadow Of War’ Mithril Edition By Staff Reporter | Feb 28, 2017 08:47 AM EST A retailer leak over the weekend of an upcoming $100 Gold Edition of the open world action-adventure video game set “Middle-earth: Shadow of War” turns out not to be the most expensive version of the game. Warner Bros. has plans to come up with a $300 Mithril Edition of the game. The nine items that come with the Mithril Edition include a 12-inch statue that depicts a war between a Tar-Goroth Balrog and a Carnan Drake. What’s Inside The $300 Mithril Edition According to GameSpot, the $300 Mithril Edition comes with a copy of “Middle-earth: Shadow of War” Gold Edition with exclusive steel case, a premium case with Magnetic Ring of Power, and an exclusive Mithril War Chest. Plus there are the official game music soundtrack, limited edition 12-inch Tar-Goroth Balrog vs. Carnan Drake Statue, and a cloth map of Mordor. Also part of the package is a collection of exclusive lithographs, tribe sticker pack, and collector’s box. The $100 Gold Edition of “Middle-earth: Shadow of War” is sold separately with the base games, including various DLC and story expansions. The game, similar to its predecessor, happens between “The Hobbit: and “The Lord of the Rings.” Both the base game and the Gold Edition of “Middle-earth: Shadow of War” would launch on Aug. 22 for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, but only the console versions for PS4 and Xbox One of the $300 Mithril Edition are listed on the website of GameStop. Silver Edition Destructoid adds there is a Silver Edition of “Middle-earth: Shadow of War” at GameStop for $80. However, the retailer did not list the difference between a Gold and a Silver Edition of the game. IGN reports that the Aug. 22 launch is only for North America. For Europe, the launch would be on Aug. 25. The game, developed by Monolith Productions, is the sequel to “Shadow of Mordor” released in 2014.
