PS4 Slim Retro Version Announced: Design Pays Homage to 1994 PlayStation; 1TB Disk Space; Only 50 to be Released Worldwide? By Van D | Feb 26, 2017 08:02 AM EST After the PlayStation 4 has been released, Sony has had huge success by following up with the PlayStation 4 Pro and the PlayStation 4 Slim. If that wasn't already big enough, reports say that Sony will be releasing a PS4 Slim Retro Version console limited edition. This was announced by Nova Starke, and India-based company that specializes in custom paint jobs for various things.. The PlayStation 4 Retro was released back in September 2016 and took the place of the original version, which was released in November 2013. Mobi Picker reports that this will be a restricted version of the PlayStation 4 Slim and will be featuring a 1TB hard drive. The most striking physical feature is its custom paint work, which pays homage to the great stylish inspirations of the first PlayStation in 1994. This version is noticeably more compact, slimmer and sleeker than the original as can be deduced from its name. Nova Starke's limited release of the PlayStation 4 Slim Retro Version is the ideal mix of present day gaming while treating owners with a look at the console's humble origins. This gaming beast is bundled with 1TB of internal data and brings back the soul of how gaming was way back in 1994. The first PlayStation was a distinct figure in the gaming business and Sony had consistently developed it to make sure it remains the cream of the crop for the console industry. PlayStation Universe reports that while a lot of fans might be excited with the release of this new edition of the PlayStation 4, it looks like they have to push their luck to get one. The PlayStation 4 Slim Retro Version will be extremely rare. It had reportedly been announced that Sony will be releasing only 50 of these worldwide. Reports also say that this console will be shipped in from Mumbai where Nova Starke is based and will cost more at $740. Just as everything limited is, those eyeing for this should move quickly as it is expected to be sold out just moments after being available to the general public -- if it will be.
