Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge Update: Android 7.0 Nougat Comes With a Secure Folder App

The previous reports of Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge getting an Android 7.0 Nougat update excites its users with the new features like. Now, users who want to keep confidential files on their phones might be happy with the new update.

The Secure Folder app will soon be a downloadable service on Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge after Android 7.0 Nougat is released. Sam Mobile reported that the Secure Folder app is in the form of an APK file so that it will have to be side-loaded if the user is looking to get his or her hands on it.

Samsung's Secure Folder app aims to assist its users in keeping sensitive data, private photos, and other types of files and mobile applications safe. The Secure Folder app also lets users keep apps, pictures, data files and sensitive work documents confidential with no one having access except for the owner.

To keep up with the quality of security, the Secure Folder is password protected for the owner to know surely that his files are safe, according to the report by Android Headlines. For the app to work, the device must run under the Android 7.0 Nougat.

Secure Folder was originally spotted on the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S7. The South Korean tech conglomerate plans to launch the app for both Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge but decided to wait until the devices are updated with Android 7.0 Nougat.

Android Authority has reported that not all Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge devices would likely get the Nougat update even though it was available since January. With this, the Secure Folder app could wait a little longer in the Play Store and the Galaxy Apps store.

The company has yet to release an official statement about the secure folder application. They are also slated to have the application launched with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. The two Samsung devices are expected to be launched sometime this Spring.
