Google I/O 2016 Dates, Location, Now Set
The Internet was abuzz with Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s tweet last January 12th. Sundar Pichai, Senior Vice President for products, delivers his keynote address during the Google I/O developers conference in San Francisco, California May 28, 2015 , the company’s answer to Apple’s WWDC, is happening “where it all started 10 years ago,†at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, on May 18-20, 2016. The Google chief added, “More details soon,†and used the hashtag #io16.

Speculations are rife that Android N will be teased during the conference, although Stuff.tv points out that the next-gen Android OS may not have the official name yet by then, but will be close to launch. The guesses on the names are already being thrown around, though, with thoughts veering towards “Nutella,†“Nougat,†“Nut Brittle,†“Nerds,†and even “Nutrageous.†Other more outrageous names are coming to fore, but the louder buzz is that Sundar Pichai may open an online poll to help decide on the name.

As for the I/O 2016 itself, TechRadar gave more details to their observations, with their predictions on what Google may discuss on that fateful set of days. Aside from Android N, TechRadar speculates that Android Wear, Android Auto, Project Ara, and self-driving cars would be top of the tech giant’s agenda. Other than that, TechRadar also speculates that Google Chrome, smart homes, virtual reality, and Project Fi would earn mentions, as well. In any case, Google will most likely ensure that the I/O participants, the press, and the end-user will have much to look forward to in 2016, as the race to create next-gen tech heats up.

Aside from more speculations on the features of the Android N, ideas for the name of the upcoming OS will surely be tossed around even more. More than that, official stats for OS distribution may make their appearance, as well. More importantly, expect the gadgets of the next two years to earn their spot at the Google I/O in May 2016.
