Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Now Available On Android For Absolutely Free

By Staff Reporter | Dec 09, 2015 07:15 AM EST

Let’s face it, Adobe’s creative suite is essential in photo editing. The interfaces in Adobe’s tools are simply some of the most intuitive that the software industry has to offer. No Open Source app comes close. However, there’s another truth that comes with Adobe’s creative suite: Its prohibitive, hefty price. Adobe changed things up a bit, though, and their tools now come with a more affordable monthly payment scheme.

However, nothing is more affordable than “FREE.” And so, with all of Adobe’s generosity, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for Android just got released with features that don’t require a Creative Cloud subscription. Adobe adopted the same freemium model with Photoshop Lightroom for Android, just as it had with Adobe Premiere Clip, Adobe Photoshop Mix, and Adobe Photoshop Express. While expanded features are available with a Creative Cloud subscription, most of the basic, more crucial features are absolutely usable for FREE.

More than that, Adobe also made their ecosystem more affordable for potential paying customers. Down from the standard price of one app for $19.99 monthly, Adobe dropped the Creative Cloud subscription to Photoshop into a more affordable price of $9.99 per month. For creatives who simply need the whole Adobe suite, the price is at $49.99 monthly. There’s also an expanded subscription that comes with Adobe’s stock photos at $79.98 a month. A creative won’t run out of options, depending on which apps they need the most.

A subscription to Creative Cloud not only comes with expanded functionality, it also lets a mobile user of the Adobe Apps sync their work on desktop. As Adobe’s David Macy, Director of Mobile Product Marketing for Creative Cloud, said that even an iPad Pro won’t be able to substitute a desktop environment for creative work. Thus, for creatives who want to use their Adobe apps, it might be a great idea to invest in a Creative Cloud subscription.

As an outline, a Creative Cloud subscription isn’t as prohibitive as it sounds. After all, the capacity to work on projects on the fly will simply bring in more productivity, and hopefully more income, ensuring that one’s subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud is worth every single cent. For dabblers, then the sophisticated, free features of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom are enough to let them enjoy the app on their Android devices.
