Toshiba To Release Chromebook 2 In October By Staff Reporter | Sep 25, 2015 08:36 AM EDT Chromebooks have grown in popularity over the recent years as budget-conscious consumers are discovering that they are actually pretty capable alternatives to Windows-based laptops. For those who only use their laptops for surfing the Internet and working on a few documents via Google Docs, a Chromebook is an excellent alternative. Toshiba, known for churning out sturdy and durable laptops, released their first Chromebook in 2014. This October, theyâre adding two new Chromebooks to this line, and they packed in some really interesting features in these two upcoming models. These two Chromebooks will feature backlit keyboards and speakers tuned by Skullcandy. Those who want to surf the Web in the dark while listening to a Spotify playlist will be able to enjoy that with the Toshiba Chromebook 2. The two models are priced at $330 and $430, with the $330 model powered by an Intel Celeron processor, while the $430 model will be powered by an Intel i3 chip. Both are 5th-Gen Intel Broadwell processors, and they are expected to give the new models a major performance boost. The current-generation Toshiba Chromebooks give out around 6 hours in battery life, so these two upcoming models are expected to put in the same. With the new-generation Intel chips inside these Chromebooks, though, thereâs a possibility that these could last longer. As for the display, Toshibaâs Chromebook 2 has a 1080p HD screen, which is expected to render crisp and clear graphics. Since it is powered by up to 4GB in RAM, the Toshiba Chromebook 2 will be able to let the user work with cloud-based graphics tools such as Pixlr and Adobe Creative Cloud. As for hard drive space, the new Chromebook 2 laptops may come with 16GB hard drives, just as last yearâs models. The Toshiba Chromebook 2 laptops will come with 2 years free of 100GB of Google Drive storage. With all the basics accessible and functional on the adequately-powered Toshiba Chromebook 2 laptops, a new Chromebook convert may never miss Microsoft Windows at all. Where else could one get backlit keyboards on $330 or $430 laptops? Only when they are Toshiba Chromebook 2âs.
