Nokia's Next Line Of Handsets Set To Release In 2016, Nokia C1 Leaked By Staff Reporter | Sep 08, 2015 07:39 PM EDT In spite of the fact that some tech pundits announced that Nokia is âgoing backâ to smartphones, the fact of the matter is that they never âgot outâ of the game. They just got less relevant. A whole lot less relevant than they used to be. As tech pundits and geeks the world over can recall, Microsoft announced the acquisition of the mobile company in September 2013 and completed the purchase on April 25, 2014. Nokia hasnât ceased to exist during the acquisition period. Nokia Lumia phones were still around, and even though the Nokia X was a flop, the fact remains that the company still made attempts to catch the mobile device marketâs attention. However, it does seem as if Microsoft put Nokia on a lesser tier of its priorities. Now, post-Windows 10 launch, it seems that Microsoft is turning its focus to bringing Nokia back to relevance. Enter the leak of the Nokia C1. While Nokia has named a previous device similarly, the 2016 release will be an Android-powered device. It will be a 5-inch device, with the following specs: Processor/Chipset: Intel RAM: 2GB OS: Android OS, v5.0 (Lollipop) Internal Storage: 32GB Connectivity: GSM, HSPA, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n Display: 5.0 inches 1080p display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a ~294 ppi pixel density Cameras: Primary: 8 MP with an output of 3264 x 2448 pixels, LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging and touch focus; Secondary: 5MP Battery: Non-removable Li-Ion battery Nokia reportedly uses the âCâ nomenclature to stand for âCoreâ devices, a crucial part of their line. Essentials, so to speak. Hopefully, the Nokiaâs use of the Android will not be as radically different as it rendered the Android on the Nokia X series. This way, Android fans wonât be left disgruntled, critical, and hopefully, the market will snap up the new line of Nokia phones.
