Wileyfox Unveils A New, Secure, Spam-Fighting Line Of Androids
Another security-oriented Android is coming to the scene, and it’s geared to fight spam.
British startup Wileyfox is rolling out two models powered by the modder’s favorite ROM, Cyanogen.
Wileyfox expects Cyanogen to lend their phones agility and a streamlined performance. Cyanogen is known for being light, stripped down, and lets the user delete bundled bloatware. A feature that tired, bloatware-allergic users may welcome.
Wileyfox also incorporated very nifty features into its line of smartphones: Truecaller Integrated Dialler blocks spam numbers which are used for telemarketing cold calls, while Privacy Guard controls the information that apps such as Facebook and Spotify collect from your device.
Cyanogen teamed up with Truecaller to integrate Truecaller’s database of spammers. Wileyfox integrated and played up this feature on their smartphones, so users automatically enjoy the freedom from those pesky telemarketers.
Privacy Guard on the other hand helps users control the data that apps such as Facebook or Spotify could gather from the user. Upon installation, most apps request that users give permissions to certain features of their phones, as well as certain data that they promise not to sell to other companies. However, the truth of the matter is, Facebook and the rest use this data to determine the advertising targeted to their users. With Privacy Guard, the user can block these apps from gleaning them. What is more is that Privacy Guard also turns off some of the features of these apps, so that they don’t suck up more battery than needed.
With these goodies integrated into the Wileyfox smartphones, the users would certainly be stoked to have either the Storm or the Swift in their hands.
