Plants vs. Zombies 2's Summer Nights Event Ends August 13th

Even though the Plants vs. Zombies team is more focused on the Garden Warfare launch, avid fans and daily players of the Android and iOS gaming staple, Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time, are aware that the “Summer Nights” update was rolled out towards the end of July. However, it’s ending on August 13th, and this is a reminder that you should give it what you’ve got, in order to make the most out of the last 24 to 36 hours.

The Summer Nights update brought a new limited-edition plant with it, the Strawburst. When tapped, the fruit gets launched and it explodes on a zombie. When a player applies Plant Food on it, it grows to a gigantic size and then bursts in the middle of the board. It will only affect zombies closest to it, however, so zombies located on the extreme corners may not be killed on impact by the gigantic Strawburst.

Plants vs. Zombies 2 also brought back the special edition plants from last year’s events, starting March 10th. There was a period when some plants disappeared from the store, but they were returned with the release of the Lost City installments. Whether these limited-edition plants will stay on the store beyond April 13th, remains to be seen.

If the Strawburst’s in-game ads are any indication of its lifetime in the Store, it may be taken off the store as the Summer Nights event series ends. So grab that, and blast zombies off the board with powered-up Strawbursts.

The Summer Nights Piñata parties have been skinned over with fireworks instead of piñata icons, and the rewards are mostly power-ups such as the Power Snow, Power Toss, and Power Zap. Unlike in regular Piñata parties where the prizes were mostly gems or plant costumes, the Summer Nights rewards were in the form of any of these power-ups, completely free. Perfect for those who prefer to use these when in a bind.

In these last remaining hours, the best a Plants vs. Zombies 2 aficionado can do would be to collect the last three power-ups, as well as buy any or all of the limited-edition plants. If you have enough gem stocks to get limited-edition plants that are strictly purchasable with gems, remember that the Ghost Pepper, Sweet Potato, and Dandelion may be taken out of the store by the end of Summer Nights. Sap-Fling and Strawburst can be purchased with real money and not gems, so buy those with a credit or debit card before August 13 ends!

Seriously consider buying gems to get a limited-edition plant you’ve been dying to have since last year, as well. Remember, every dollar you spend on the Plants vs. Zombies 2 store goes to feed a hungry developer, or PopCap Games’ hungry ad executives. Either way, you’re helping to keep the franchise alive.
