Android Lollipop 5.1 Released To Various High-End Devices, Android M On The Horizon

Androids across the board in the United States are getting the Lollipop 5.1 update this month.

T-Mobile started rolling out an over-the-air update with the build number G900TUVU1FOF6 by the end of June 2015.

The LG G Stylo and LG Leon on T-Mobile were updated on July 3rd, while the HTC One M9 Developer Edition was rolled out on the 4th of July.

Last week, the Lollipop 5.1 was launched for the Motorola X and the Motorola G LTE on AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. On the other hand, the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 had the Lollipop 5.1 previewed as of last week, so expect the full update within the month. As for Samsung Galaxy S5 users on Sprint, the 5.1 patch upgrade was rolled out on July 6th, with the build number G900PVPU3BOF6.

For Verizon and AT&T users, announcements have yet to be made regarding the Lollipop 5.1.1 upgrade. The last known upgrade for Samsung users on Verizon was the Samsung Galaxy S5 update to Lollipop 5.0 with the VRU1BNLC build number.

On the other hand, Samsung devices, especially the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge may get the first taste of the Android M by the third quarter of this year.

Great things are coming on the horizon, especially with new updates and new features coming to the Android, plus with the looming launch of the Android M. Google has already released the Android M Developer Preview 2 earlier this July, giving a peek into what’s to come with its system. Expect better security, and greater control over app permissions.

The Lollipop 5.1 upgrades are said to fix hardware issues such as heavy battery drain, app crashing, as well as other bugs.

Expect the Android M to have a “sweet-sounding” name, as the Android naming tradition is that of sweets and pastries.
