Google Street View And Technologies By Staff Reporter | Apr 24, 2014 11:47 AM EDT Google Street View and Technologies such as Googleâs maps, 3-D maps, indoor maps and its mobile app offering for Android allow the user to experience the world with streetview and allow the user to reach places faster and easier. On the Android mobile app, the user simply taps into recent searches, whether on desktop or mobile, making it easier to get directions or navigation no matter where they want to go.Google first started Street View as an experimental project. The company initially packed several computers into the back of an SUV, stuck cameras, lasers, and a GPS device on top, and drove around collecting our first imagery. Today, since Street Viewâs initial U.S. launch in 2007; the company has expanded its 360-degree panoramic views to include locations on all seven continents. The newly designed Google Maps app for Android phones and tablets makes navigating the world faster and easier. The Android app lets users identify the best spots in town and the information required to get there. Key features include a comprehensive, accurate maps in 200 countries, voice-guided GPS navigation for driving, biking, and walking, transit directions and maps for over 2,800 cities, live traffic, incident reports, and dynamic re-routing.There is also detailed information on more than 100 million places. Googleâs Street View technology and indoor imagery for restaurants, museums, and more is also included in the Android app at Google Play. Google Maps for Android lets the user view where they are and gets them to where you want to go. The technology also includes free, voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation, whether driving, walking or taking public transit. Street View can let the user visit a destination before they even get there or explore a place which a user has never been from a ground-level perspective. Street View is available in many places around the world. Google is currently in development of adding coverage to more of the world. The user can View Street View imagery through options such as using Pegman. The areas with Street View imagery available will be highlighted in blue. Users can also see indoor imagery highlighted on the map as orange dots. Another option offered to view is to use the search box by finding a location. The user can also expand the carousel to see more imagery for that location. There are icons in the technology where the user selects icons such as a compass to navigate around Street View.
