Samsung Gear Fit Features Curved Screen

Samsung has thrown its hat into the fitness tracker market, announcing today at Mobile World Congress the Gear Fit. The new wearable works as a standalone device, or can be paired to a smartphone and features a curved Super AMOLED display said to contour to a user’s wrist.

Unlike many other fitness trackers, the Gear Fit carries over numerous features from the Gear smartwatch, including notifications from Galaxy smartphones for incoming calls, emails and texts. Samsung says the Gear Fit will also feature support for third-party apps.

“Samsung understands that the next generation of wearable mobile solutions must directly reflect of the diverse interests and needs of consumers,” said JK Shin, CEO and president of IT & mobile division, Samsung Electronics in a press statement. “In response, our Gear product portfolio continues to expand with unique devices for a wide range of lifestyles, including the new Gear Fit designed to help those consumers striving to live more fit and active lives without sacrificing their own personal style or their ability to stay connected on the go.”

While the Gear Fit boasts an impressive array of functions, its aesthetics are likely to be no less of a selling point. The Super AMOLED screen truly stands out both in terms of resolution and its curved design. In addition, users will have the option to choose from a number of changeable straps in black, orange and mocha grey.

Pricing for the Gear Fit has yet to be announced, but the wearable’s release date is currently slated for April. The full Gear Fit product specs can be found below.
