The Nokia X 'Normandy' Is A $100 Android Smartphone, When Will It Launch? By Staff Reporter | Feb 19, 2014 04:59 PM EST The Nokia X âNormandyâ release date has been confirmed for the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona as the entry level Android flagship has been leaked. Nokia has a countdown on their site for the time left to the Nokia press conference in Barcelona where they are expected to announce the latest Nokia smartphone. The Nokia X âNormandyâ is no flagship though. From what we have seen and heard this is very much an entry-level Nokia device. Perhaps thatâs smart because after joining Windows Nokia isnât well positioned to compete in the flagship Android market. The Nokia X specs are very much entry with a dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1GHz. It has 512 MB of memory, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot for 32Gb more storage, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 4-inch 854 x 480 display with 285 ppi. The Nokia X runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The specs arenât going to get a diehard Android fan boy excited, but the $100 price tag will. We can see that the Nokia X is targeting the same market as the Moto G and other affordable entry level and mid-range devices. These arenât great specs by any means, but this is a dirt cheap phone and it runs the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat with all the performance and software optimizations. Google boasted that Android 4.4.2 KitKat could run on as little as 512 MB of RAM and now Nokia has proved it. Thatâs quite the feat and it will be interesting to see what the Nokia X âNormandyâ has to offer when it is launched at MWC 2014.
