The LG G Pro 2 May Get A Surprise Early Announcement In South Korea As Early As Next Week

The LG G Pro 2 release date could be much earlier than expected, at least according to invitations that have gone out to South Korean media outlets. Several of these companies have gotten invites which invites them to an event hosted by LG on February 13. The LG G Pro 2 has been the most recently leaked device from LG and there is no word about anything else aside from the LG health bands and an LG smartwatch, both of which are likely to only show up during the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona.

It seems likely that LG is moving up the launch date of the LG G Pro 2 in order not to have to share the spotlight with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One 2 “M8”, both of which are likely to be announced on that date. LG might be better off launching the device ahead of MWC 2014, it would allow them to talk about other things during the event. Its worth pointing out that if LG announced the LG G Pro 2 release date early, that would be the same strategy it followed for the LG Optimus G Pro where it was launched first in South Korea before being showcased at MWC. A similar strategy for the LG G Pro 2 isn’t unlikely.

The LG G Pro 2 release date on Febuary 13 will also give us the clearest look at the specs we have seen so far. The phablet is rumored to have 6-inch QHD 2k display, a Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of Ram and 13-megapixel camera with OIS and 4K video capabilities and slow motion shooting modes. If these rumors are true the phablet would be more than capable in taking on both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the HTC One 2 “M8” in a specs war. LG is also intending to follow up the LG G Pro 2 with the LG G3 in May. Finally the text of the invitation contains the phrase, “Knock-knock-knockin”, which suggests that the device will have the knock-on capabilities and the now typical back buttons found on the LG G2.
