Acer's Annual Tablet Refresh On Track For CES 2014 By Staff Reporter | Jan 05, 2014 03:04 PM EST Ahead of CES 2014, Acer on Friday announced the annual refresh of its line of Iconia Android tablets. Ranging in price from $130 to $150, the tablets are certainly on the cheaper side and geared toward the budget-conscious crowd, but that doesnât mean they arenât packing some decent specs and features. The Acer Iconia A1-830 boasts aluminum construction, a 7.9-inch IPS display, Atom processor and 1GB RAM. It runs Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean out of the box and itâs unknown yet if that will be upgradable to KitKat or even the latest flavor of Jelly Bean. The Iconia B1-720 will save you $20, while still delivering a more than decent Android tablet experience. It sports a 1.3GHz dual-core processor and the same RAM allotment as its slightly bigger brother. Battery life on both the A1-830 and B1-720 is also nothing to scoff at, clocking in at seven and five hours, respectively. âOur fundamental goal when creating the Acer Iconia A1-830 was to provide our customers with an optimized Android tablet that stands out from other devices,â said Jerry Kao, associate vice president of Acer Mobile Consumer Business Unit in a press statement. âConsumers expect more than ever from value-oriented products, and the Acer Iconia A1-830 tablet delivers much more than tablets in this class with its vibrant IPS display, premium aluminum metal finish and great performance and sound.âBoth new Iconia tablets will officially debut in Las Vegas at CES 2014, but not before Acer shows them off to press at Pepcomâs Digital Experience media event on Monday, January 6. âPeople continue to demand more from their tablets, and we must stay ahead of what they need and want to do,â said Hermann Eul, corporate vice president and general manager for Intelâs Mobile and Communications Group. âAcer has designed a tablet that does just that using our multi-core multi-threaded Intel Atom processor for Android. The new Acer Iconia A1-830 provides a smooth, seamless and responsive Android-based mobile experience for multitasking, web browsing and gaming. Weâre excited to see another Intel-based Android tablet available for consumers.âHit the press release link for more info, including some more spec data and a rundown of some of the accessories to be offered.
