Installing Android 4.0.4 Milestone 6 ROM On HTC Desire By Staff Reporter | Dec 23, 2013 05:02 PM EST The HTC Desire is still officially stuck on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but fortunately, XDA Developer pratheek1992 came out with an AOKP Milestone 6 ROM based on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich some time back.This guide will walk you though the installation process for AOKP on the HTC Desire. As always, DroidReport assumes no liability for the firmware installation. Proceed with caution.Before Getting StartedDo not use this guide for any device other than the HTC Desire. Flashing this ROM onto any other device will most probably result in a bricked phone.You must have your HTC Desire rooted, with a recovery utility like ClockworkMod installed. As always, you want to backup your device and charge it to at least 80 percent.Finally, enable USB Debugging mode by navigating to Settings -> Developer Options. Updating HTC Desire to Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 Milestone 6 ROM1) Download the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich AOKP Milestone 6 ROM, as well as the Google Apps package, which can be found here and here.2) Using your USB cable, connect your HTC Desire to your computer.3) Copy AOKP custom ROM and Google Apps to the root folder of your handsetâs SD card. Do not extract either.4) Restart your phone into Bootloader mode by pressing the Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously. Use the volume keys to select Recovery.5) Perform a Nandroid backup of your device.6) In CWM recovery, navigate to âFormat systemâ in the Mounts and Storage submenu, and then press âYes.â Next, navigate to the Advanced submenu and select âWipe Dalvik Cache.â Select âYesâ when prompted.7) Navigate to âInstall Zip from SD cardâ and select the ROM file copied earlier.8) After the installation is complete, press âGo backâ and then select âReboot system nowâ to restart your phone. This may take some time.9) After restarting, your HTC Desire will officially be running Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich AOKP Milestone 6 ROM. Kudos.
