Smarty Ring Android Smartring To Ship In April By Staff Reporter | Dec 12, 2013 12:56 PM EST If you like the idea of wearable tech but donât feel a particular affinity for Google Glass or one of the myriad smartwatches out there like Samsungâs Galaxy Gear or Qualcommâs Toq, the Smarty Ring may be the device youâve been waiting for.The Smarty Ring is a finger-born wearable that performs most of the functions that a typical smartwatch does. Compatible with Android or iOS devices, the Smarty Ring displays phone notifications for incoming and outgoing calls, text messages, email and updates from Facebook, Twitter, Hangout and Skype. The smartring can also display time and can be used as a stopwatch or timer.âThis product is not only the first of its kind, but is truly the perfect fit for the tech savvy among you who needs all updates on the go in one attractive package,â the company writes on its Indiegogo page. âEver missed a text or Facebook update because you didn't notice your phone jingle? With the Smarty Ring those days are over! Remotely control your phone and never miss a call, text, alarm, tweet, you name it!â In addition to an LED display, the Smarty Ring has three buttons that can be used to accept or reject calls, dial out to preset phone numbers, activate your phoneâs camera app and control the music player. Given the deviceâs small size, the tiny buttons seem like theyâd be problematic for a number of reasons, not least of all accidental presses from your other fingers. Still, itâs certainly a novel idea and the creators call it a âfashionable option,â so thereâs that. We imagine it would pair well with the Three Wolf Moon Tee.If youâre interested, check out the Smarty Ring on Indiegogo. The ring has already met its funding goal several times over and the makers are hoping to begin delivering units before the first week of April. Itâs currently available for $175, a $100 cheaper than the retail price tag.
