Livescribe 3 Smart Pen

Livescribe 3 is a new “smart” pen that is compatible with mobile devices. Livescribe 3 from Livescribe is an actual pen that Android users can write with directly on paper. Livescribe 3 then transfers the documentation via an app. The app is currently compatible with smartphone and tablet devices. Livescribe 3 is available for $150.

This is the latest version of the smart pen which features streamlined design. The  Livescribe 3 smartpen also conceals high performance and technology. An infrared camera, ARM processor, Bluetooth Smart chipset, flash memory and lithium ion battery all work together to bring your notes to life on your tablet or smartphone.

This is the third edition of its smartpen: the Livescribe 3. Although the device syncs with smartphones and tablets, there is no Android app yet available. Users can still email the notes and upload them to Evernote. The smartpen offers beneficial Android solutions such as the Sky Wi-Fi pen. There are also accessories that can be integrated such as using a stylus with Android-based Samsung Note line. These devices already have styluses. The Livescribe 3 smart pen works with a free Livescribe app. There is also a small infrared camera which is used for reading patterns of dots via Livescribe notebooks.

The user would deliver data through its Bluetooth enabled feature directly, to the app. Users can also use the free app to record live audio notes and hyperlink text attached to audio. Livescribe 3 smart pen performance is also impressive. The smart pen can host up to 2 gigabytes of notes. The smart pen also can be synchronized.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 and 10.1 also feature a smart pen. The S-Pen comes with both devices and is a stylus for the phone made specifically for note taking. The stylus is also pressure sensitive. Samsung's S-Note app allows Android users to export and take notes. Text messaging is also enabled to take notes from the app. The Galaxy Note 3 is priced at $299 and the Galaxy Note 10.1 is priced at $430.

Technologies today can benefit users without using a traditional pen by using smart pens. As users become more digital, pen and paper will be prone to more limitations. According to the company, written notes are susceptible to loss and damage. Livescribe also believes written notes suffer an inherent lack of connectivity; despite how rich the content on a piece of paper is, it is physically bound and limited.
