Google Places for Business Android version recently upgraded the Google Places for Business dashboard. Saturday, November 30, 2013 is Small Business Saturday. Small Business Saturday

Listing and per-field updates is also new in Google Places for Business. Android users are able to show the status of any business information on Maps. Google Insights tracks business performance on Google. A one-click upgrade to create a local Google+ page has been updated however is not available yet for mobile. With this feature, it is easier for users to upload more photos and businesses can add a longer description.

Google Places for Business also announced that they no longer support custom categories. Android users would now have to choose from the categories available within the dashboard. The “payment options” and “additional details” fields no longer appear. Data will not be transferred in upgrades to the new dashboard. Another feature that is no longer available is the “videos” field in the dashboard. Videos are accessible via a Youtube account.

Google is currently moving existing Places users into the new dashboard in stages. This will happen automatically. When a user has been updated they won’t be able to return to the old dashboard. Google is planning to make dashboard available across the globe in the near future. The Places Android mobile app is only available for Android users of the new Places dashboard in the United States.
