Rooting Samsung's Galaxy Note 2 (Android 4.3 Jelly Bean)
If you’re using Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2, there’s a good chance you’ve already flashed the leaked Android 4.3 test firmware (XXUEMJ5) that’s been circulating the interwebs for a couple weeks now. It’s also not unlikely you’re in need of a way to root your new firmware.
This how-to guide will show you how to do just that with a Galaxy Note 2 handset bearing the model number GT-N7100. Rooting your Galaxy Note 2 will have a number of benefits, such as allowing for the installation of third-party root apps, performance tweaks and custom ROMs.

Before Getting Started
Before you get started, ensure that your Galaxy Note 2 is the GT-N7100 model.
As always, you want to backup your device and charge it to at least 80 percent. Finally, enable USB Debugging mode by navigating to Settings -> Developer Options.
How To Root Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100)
1) Download and extract the Android 4.3 ClockworkMod Recovery & Rooting Package, as well as Odin v3.07, which can be found here and here.
2) Put your Galaxy Note 2 in Download mode by holding the Volume Down and Home buttons, then tap the Power button until a Samsung logo appears. Tap power again to enter Download mode.
3) Unzip Odin v3.07. Right click on Odin v3.07.exe and run the application as an administrator.
4) Using your USB cable, connect your Galaxy Note 2 to your computer. You should see an ID:COM box appear on screen and turn yellow. If this does not occur, reinstall your computer’s USB drivers.
5) Within Odin, press the PDA button and select the tar.md5 file extracted in step 1.
6) Select Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time while leaving all other boxes unchecked.
7) Click start and wait until the installation process completes. Any interruption may result in a bricked device.
8) Once the installation finishes, you’ll see an ID:COM box turn green. This means your Galaxy Note 2 is officially rooted. Kudos.
