Xiaomi has recently released new updates for MIUI. In addition to bringing new features to its smartphones, some devices have also get updated to a new Android version. Xiaomi claims that it plans to update a total of 14 devices to Android Nougat and has released a list containing eligible devices. According to a report in Chinese site IT Home, some of the devices in the list will be getting Android 7.0 and some will be getting Android 7.1. Why all aren't getting 7.1 directly, why some devices aren't listed and when will these updates actually roll out is still a mystery. The list of Xiaomi smartphones to get updated to Android Nougat includes Mi Max, Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi Note 2, Redmi Note 4X, Mi MIX, and Redmi 4X will be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat. However, the Android 7.1 Nougat will be rolled out for Mi 6, Mi Max 2, Mi 5c, and Redmi 4X. Surprisingly, Redmi Note 4 isn't on the list of the update to Android Nougat. The smartphone was launched in China in the month of August. Given Redmi Note 4 was unveiled quite recently, it is not sure why the smartphone didn't make it to the list. Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat beta stable update for Mi Max in June. The said smartphone was launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and MIUI 7, but later got updated to MIUI 8 in August, as reported by Indian Express. Xiaomi is known to provide regular updates for MIUI but slow at upgrading them to new Android OS versions. The company usually provides MIUI updates to users to give them access to new features and more security. However, all future Xiaomi smartphones are also said to come with Android 7.0 out of the box until Google releases Android 8.0.
