Samsung Galaxy Note 8 To Release In August Ahead Of IFA

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is rumored to be unveiled in August, ahead of IFA. This year the new Note has many bridges to rebuild - any headstart on the OLED-packing iPhone 8 will be of huge help.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 could be launched in just two months time, according to South Korean news website The Bell. Citing Samsung Electronics, the publication claims that the new flagship phablet might launch in mid-August, the same period that the Galaxy Note 7 was released in last year (August 19).

The Galaxy Note phones have traditionally been unveiled at the IFA conference in Berlin. The IFA show takes place in September until last year's Galaxy Note 7 bucked the trend.

It was likely that Samsung would take extra time in launching the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that is beyond the typical 12-month making cycle, to ensure the launch went off without a glitch. Last year's Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was recalled twice before being canceled following battery problems. It was also speculated that Samsung delayed the Galaxy S8 release earlier this year for quality assurance purposes, Android Authority.

However, publication reveals that Samsung has decided to accelerate the launch of the Galaxy Note 8, to get a head-start on the upcoming Apple iPhone 8. The South Korean tech giant will no doubt be seeking ways to take the shine off the launch of Apple's 10th anniversary iPhone, but if that means speeding up out another Galaxy Note device, let's hope the decision doesn't blow up in Samsung's face.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is said to come with a 6.3-to-6.4-inch curved display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 processor, and a dual-lens, 13 MP, rear-facing camera with Auto Focus. An on-screen fingerprint scanner has been ruled out, but the display should boast an impressive screen-to-body ratio, like the S8 and S8 Plus.
