Amplify recently partnered with Intel to come out with the Amplify Tablet designed by Intel Education, which integrates unique hardware and software system designed specifically for K-12. The federal government's Common Core State Standards are currently being implemented in over 40 states, plus D.C. According to the company, more districts across the U.S. are moving to "1:1"- one tablet or laptop per student. Miami-Dade has begun rolling out devices, and Los Angeles already has. Amplify had also been involved in one the largest tablet deployments in history with Guilford County schools in North Carolina.

“We realized that, while we’d built the world’s best platform for mobile learning using anyone’s content, we needed to come up with a device that was ready for the physical demands of the school environment,” said Amplify CEO Joel Klein. “That’s exactly what we’ve done with this new tablet.”

The Intel® Education Tablet is designed specifically for education and built to meet students' needs. The multi-touch display and e-Reader software enable students to access rich online content. Ultra-portability allows them to take the device to the field to capture data with the built-in camera and analyze it with Amplify instructional software. They can collaborate with classmates, while comparing their findings to others on the web. The Intel Education Tablet gives students access to a new view of their world—right at their fingertips.

As part of its ongoing efforts to bring purpose-built education reference design solutions to education systems around the world, Intel Education Solutions is collaborating with Amplify to offer a new ruggedized tablet built for K-12 education. The tablet features a durable industrial design that can withstand drops and spills, an advanced Wi-Fi radio and a tethered stylus. The tablet will be available for the 2014-2015 school year.

“We’re committed to giving teachers and students both world-class devices and cutting-edge instructional tools,” said Stephen Smyth, president of the Amplify Access division, which develops the Amplify Tablet System. “Our collaboration with Intel Education will allow us to do that better than ever before.”

The Amplify Tablet designed by Intel Education features an advanced, dual-band dual-antenna (2 x 2 MIMO) Wi-Fi radio that boosts connectivity and helps solve the challenges of in-school connectivity faced by older devices. The tablet is powered by a dual-core Intel® Atom™ Processor Z2580 running at 2.0 GHz with Android™ 4.2. It includes Bluetooth, a powerful 8100 mAh battery that can last the whole school day and beyond, and Miracast-compatible wireless display. The new device comes equipped with two cameras: a 1.3-megapixel front camera and a 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera. The tablet will be available for summer teacher training, in time for the start of the 2014-15 school year. Pricing for the Amplify Tablet System—including the tablet, software, content and support—will be $199 per year for three years (additional leasing fees apply); other purchase options are also available.

The New Amplify Tablet designed by Intel Education is a wonderful addition to technology and education sectors.
